Prescriptions

Please follow the guidelines and choose the right option for you.

Ordering a repeat prescription

  • Prescriptions will be sent to your chosen pharmacy 3 full working days after the request is received. Sometimes it may take longer, as your GP may need to review your prescription and check that it is still suitable for you.
  • We do not accept repeat prescription requests over the phone.

When you order a prescription online, you can have it sent electronically to a pharmacy of your choice. This is called a nomination.

Medication reviews

If you have a repeat prescription, we may ask you to come in for a regular review. We will be in touch when you need to come in for a review.

What to do with old medicines

Take it to the pharmacy you got it from or bring it in to the surgery. Do not put it in your household bin or flush it down the toilet.

Early prescriptions

For safety reasons we do not normally process prescriptions more than 2 weeks before they are due, however if you need your medication early just let us know the reason eg ‘Going on holiday’.

Private providers

Every patient has the right to choose private care if they wish.  Some private specialists accept self-referrals from patients, whereas others insist on a GP referral first. In this instance, if your GP agrees that a referral is necessary, they can provide a referral letter.
